Episode two: "On giant continents we drift". Tells how the earth's crust is divided into plates which move relative to each other. Episode three: "We live on some what shaky ground". Deals with eartquakes in various parts of the world. It tells about successful as well as unsuccesful forcasting of major earhquakes. Episode four: "With smoking mountains all around". Describes the different types of volcanoes and explains why some are explosive while others are effusive. Episode five: "We struggle hard to stay alive". Methods used to monitor volcanoes. Gives an account of volcanic hazards in densly populated areas and describes attemts to mitigate the hazards. Episode six: "With stoic calm we will survive". Five case histories; China, USA, Columbia, Italy and finally the French West Indies.
