Yule Lads' Mother - Gryla

Grýla is the giant, ogress troll mother of the thirteen (accounts vary as to the exact number) Yule Lads. Words can hardly describe her wickedness, and it is a wonder and relief indeed that her sons did not inherit her infamous character and horrid looks. With horns, tails, hooves and claws, Grýla is downright beastly. Tales of her penchant to catch and eat naughty boys and girls were used to scare and keep children well-behaved. This awful tactic was so prevalent in the past that in 1746 the authorities had to issue a decree to stop the foolish custom, but Grýla´s infamy continues... Size: in cm: 15,00 /in.: 5,90.
