The book contains much useful and valuable information on Reykjavik and Iceland. The material is aimed at meeting the needs of travelers as well as the interests of readers looking to learn something about Iceland and Icelanders. It has been developed through years of working with employees in the tourism industry, as well as from researches made by the Icelandic Tourist Board and others.

The book contains many short and concise articles, covering for instance Alþingi (the old Icelandic parliament), Northern Lights, the Icelandic horse and Icelandic music and art. There are also many recipes for well-liked Icelandic food and an article on traditional Icelandic cuisine. Visitor’s Guide Deluxe has a special section dedicated to the Icelandic countryside, with one chapter covering each part of the country as well as special recommendations for interesting destinations. For travelers’ convenience, the book contains many suggestions on how to enjoy Reykjavik and Iceland to the max. Such articles include information on budget options for dining and recreation in Reykjavik, children’s activities, walking routes in the city and Reykjavik highlights.

It has information on all the thermal swimming pools in Reykjavik (facilities, prices, opening hours and location) as well as on the bus routes. There is a rough compilation of how much things cost in Iceland, and - more importantly - discount coupons to take the edge of these prices. You can use the coupons at restaurants and selected shops, whale watching and horse back riding, as well as incredible 2 for 1 offers on beer and in the thermal pools. Just the money saved with these discounts easily sums up the price of the book in a matter of days!

In addition to these, the book includes two more specialized maps, (7) one showing popular walking routes in Reykjavik (8) and the other covering Laugardalur valley, a park in the middle of Reykjavik which offers various leisure and recreation activities at places such as the large thermal swimming pool, Reykjavik Park and Zoo, Reykjavik Botanical Garden, the ice-skating hall and more.
