West Iceland History & Heritage Map is richly illustrated and with text boxes on the front (roads and road numbers as well). Texts and beautiful photographs from the west on the back.
It was from Dalir district in West Iceland that Icelandic adventurers headed further west in search of new lands to explore and settle. Greenland was named by Eiríkur (Erik) the Red who settled there in 985-986 and North America (Vinland) was discovered around 1000 AD by Eirík´s son, Leifur (Leif) the Lucky.
The map introduces the history and heritage of Southwest Iceland from the settlement in the 9th century up to the 20th century. The map also introduce the inhabitants’ way of life, the legends and birdlife of the area, the Icelandic sheep and goat, shark, Snaefellsjökull glacier and tourism in West Iceland

Size: A1 (84 x 59 cm), folded in a pocket version (10,5 x 20 cm).
