Ketkrókur or Meat Hook (23rd Dec.) is the 12th Yule Lad to make his journey down from the mountains. Upon coming to a dwelling, he first climbs up onto the roof above the kitchen. Ketkrókur has thoughtfully brought along a long, hooked pole which he then eases down through the chimney. With amazing prowess, he proceeds to steal the smoked meat hanging from the rafters - sometimes even reaching all the way down into the pot for the smoked lamb that was traditionally boiled on this day!
